What is Ax Ohio Tax all about?

  1. 1

We want to ensure that state legislators follow their oath of office to support and defend the Ohio Constitution.

They have refused to protect Ohio citizens' inalienable property rights as outlined in Article 1, Section 1 of the Ohio Constitution.

All men are, by nature, free and independent, and have certain inalienable rights, among which are those of enjoying and defending life and liberty, acquiring, possessing, and protecting property, and seeking and obtaining happiness and safety.

Ohio legislators have also refused to support and defend Article VI, Section 2 of the Ohio Constitution:

The General Assembly shall make such provisions, by taxation, or otherwise, as, with the income arising from the school trust fund, will secure a thorough and efficient system of common schools throughout the state; but no religious or other sect, or sects, shall ever have any exclusive right to, or control of, any part of the school funds of this state.
  2. 2

The Legislative, Executive and Judicial Branches have failed the citizens of the State of Ohio by failing to protect private property ownership and ensuring "happiness and safety" for all Ohioans.

Saving freedom and liberty for this and future generations. Private property ownership is the foundation of freedom and liberty and allows families to get out of poverty by transferring wealth to the next generation. We no longer want to be just renters from the government. Home ownership in Ohio is merely an illusion. Any tax causing a citizen to become homeless is immoral.

    — Committee to Abolish Ohio Property Taxes

The growth of government in Ohio has exceeded the ability of the private sector to pay for the services. We are on an unsustainable path, and checks and balances must be installed to curb the growth at the state and local level. Our Legislative Branch has allowed the far too many taxing authorities in the State of Ohio to accumulate funds far in excess of their operating needs.

The Judicial Branch failed the citizens by not holding firm on the DeRolph case where they decided that the current public school funding was unconstitutional.

The Executive Branch has failed the citizens by declaring that fraud, waste and abuse in state government is a "necessary cost of doing business". They have failed in ensuring "happiness and safety" for all Ohioans.

  3. 3

The State of Ohio does not have a revenue generation problem; it has a spending problem.

The legislators have continued to increase revenues for the State but they have kept the overwhelming majority of the revenue for State spending rather than sharing it with the local government. The State is prioritizing the funding of public libraries rather than the local government funds which pays for the local police and fire services.

Approximately 65% of property taxes are for school funding. We want the legislators to follow Article 6, Section 2 of the Ohio Constitution, and remove property taxes from school funding. A consolidation of schools is needed to reduce the overall costs of education.

Property taxes are unlike any other tax.

If left unpaid, they don't just create a debt — they can take away the very roof over your head. That's why understanding and managing them is so important. But instead of seeing this as a threat, see it as empowerment. By staying informed, planning ahead, and taking action, you're not just protecting a house — you're safeguarding your home, your stability, and your piece of the American Dream. True ownership means knowing the rules and using that knowledge to keep what you've worked so hard for. Stand strong, stay prepared, and remember: your home is more than walls and a roof — it's your future, and it's worth protecting.

Our goal is to get signatures collected to get the amendment to Ax Ohio Tax on the ballot as soon as possible.
